Measure X -- Proposed Local Sales Tax Information
The following is for informational
purposes only. All statements and accompanying information
not be construed in support of or against Measure X.
Carpinteria’s City Council voted on May 29, 2018 to move
forward with a 1.25% sales tax measure for the City. If passed,
this will increase the City’s sales tax rate to 9%. Please see
the information below for background information, links to
community resources, and why initial outreach to Carpinteria
residents showed the majority supported City Council moving
forward with a sales tax measure to meet the projected budget
shortfalls related to street and park maintenance, required
clean water filtration programs as well as increased costs for
the sheriff’s department, library, and emergency preparedness.
